Abstract: Recently, as interest in environmental issues such as climate change has increased, many research topics related to pro-environmental behavior have emerged in the field of tourism. Therefore, in this study, papers related to pro-environmental behavior published in KCI tourism journals from 1999 to 2022 were analyzed. A total of 144 papers were collected, and content analysis was conducted. Through a review of previous studies related to content analysis, research trends were identified by selecting a total of seven analysis categories: publication year, published journal, research field, research target, research method, data collection method, and analysis method. As a result of the analysis, articles were published in 14 academic journals, and by research field, various studies were conducted including tourist behavior, restaurant consumer behavior, hotel users, product purchasers, restaurant customers, airline customers, and tourism-related companies. In particular, in the early stages of research related to pro-environmental behavior, there were many studies related to attitudes and purchase intentions toward pro-environmental management activities of companies mainly targeting hotel users. After 2020, it was found that studies related to delivery services in the restaurant sector increased noticeably. Although research topics and research methods are diversifying, many studies are being carried out that are biased toward quantitative research methods, resulting in an imbalance problem in research methods. Therefore, as a future research direction, various research methods besides questionnaire-based quantitative research should be used, and research related to actual behavior rather than staying with pro-environmental behavioral intentions should be conducted.
