Flow characteristics inside a fuel supply system of the next generation diesel engine is investigated by constructing the computer-aided design system(CADS). Surface data for the fuel supply system is obtained by using CAD software. The three-dimensional surface data is imported into CFD-VISCART, and then, CFD-ACE+is applied to the analysis of the flow characteristics of the fuel supply system. Post-processing is completed by using the Ensight software. It is found that the large flow structure does not depend on the opening and closing of the injectors. The interference effect during the valve opening or closing intervals between the pipes is not observed. The directions of the velocities are not uniform inside the pipe, which shows the possible existence of the pressure pulsation. It is believed that the current CADS can be used to the design and development of the fuel rail system for the next generation diesel engines.
