      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

      The purpose of this study was to verify the effects of fieldwork on students` deep-level learning. fieldwork is a method designed to promote deep-level learning involved with cognitive affective learning and transferable academic skills through the analysis and interpretation of phenomenon, whereas surface learning takes place mostly in the classroom. In the experimental design, Static Group Pretest-Posttest Design was utilized as a method for quantitative analysis and interview as a method for qualitative analysis. The results of this study were as follows: First, fieldwork was effective on students` academic achievement. Second, There were no statistically significant differences between male and female students in their achievement through fieldwork. Third, fieldwork was more effective for students` acquisition of transferable academic skills than classroom learning. Forth, fieldwork was more effective in promothing affective lerning than classroom leaning. Fifth, the students who participated in fieldwork were superior to those who participated in classroom learning in terms of the level of analysis, interpretation and application of knowledge gained in novel situation.
