원삼국시대 유개대부호의 편년 = The Chronology of the Lidded Leg Jars of the Proto-Three Kingdoms Period

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper investigates the chronology and the geographical diffusion of the lidded leg jars through an examination of their manufacturing technology. The lids can be divided into four types while the body parts of the jars can be divided into six types. The combination of the lid and jar types leads to the conclusion that there were five regional variations, which are respectively named Asan, Osan, Gyeongsan, Gyeongju, and Milyang. It is argued that the lidded leg jars were first made in the southern region of the Gyeonggi province and the northern region of the Chungnam province and their shape then changed to the Asan and Osan styles. The jars began to be made in the Yeongnam region and changed to the Gyeongsan style, and subsequently to the Gyeongju and Milyang styles. The previous studies on the lidded leg jar hypothesized that it was first made in the Yoengnam region and then spread to the midwestern region. The current study suggests that the diffusion direction may have been the opposite.
