모성에 대한 여성주의 재사유 = Feminist Rethinking of Motherhood

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This research starts from the point that it is problematic for the feminist ‘equality politics’ to reject motherhood in order to overcome the biological determinism. I regard it as a fault to give up making cultural resonance of motherhood to avoid the 'essential motherhood', which male 'individualism' attached to women. Because 'the capability to think of motherhood' is necessary so as to go beyond the male symbolic order. So this study aims to criticize the essentialism of some feminist approach about motherhood and to establish alternative cultural image of motherhood.
For that goal, I am going to do some theoretical work as follows. The first is to construe the refusal of motherhood of feminist ‘equality politics’ as 'patriarchal naturalization' and to examine some logical fallacy in it. The second is to defend motherhood as a biological difference of women, which is different from essentialism. The third is to criticize the individualist ontology in reference to motherhood. The fourth is to explore a different ontology being inherent in motherhood. The last is to support motherhood as a 'generative difference' to restructure our whole society.
