Stadiums play a vital role in enhancing fan experience in professional sports. However, financing has always been a major obstacle as the cost of new stadiums are soaring. Moreover, many scholars and local governments nowadays question whether public subsidies for stadium construction constitute an efficient use of scarce public resource. This paper investigated a possible method of stadium financing through city redevelopment plan. The findings suggest viewing new stadium construction as a part of city redevelopment project is an approach that professional sports teams should consider. This method offers new insights to stadium construction as it satisfies the important stakeholders while minimizing financial burden on the local government and the teams.
