해암(海巖) 유경종(柳慶種) 가문의 인장(印章) 활용 양상에 대한 연구 = A Study on the Utilization Aspect of Stamps in the Family of Haeam(海巖) Liu Gyungjong(柳慶種)

국문 초록 (Abstract)

한국 문화에서 인장(印章)은 흥미로운 대상인데도 아직은 연구가 충분하게 이루어지지 않았다. 이에 본고는 18세기 경기도 안산(安山) 지역에서 활동했던 유경종(柳慶種)과 그 주변인물에 집중하여 인장이 활용되는 한 양상을 살폈다.
제2장에서는 유경종의 『해암고(海巖稿)』를 통해 인장 관련 증언들을 조사했다. 그는 20대에서 60대까지 인장에 대한 기록을 비교적 풍부하게 남겼다. 그의 인장 취향은 시서화(詩書畵) 및 전각(篆刻)을 바탕으로 삼았으며 특히 처남인 강세황과의 예술적 교감에서 비롯된 바가 컸다. 행적과 증언을 통해 파악된 내용은 유경종의 주변에서 향유된 그림과 인영집(印影集), 현전 실물 인장 등을 해석하는 데 소중한 단서가 되었다.
제3장에서는 유경종의 가문에서 인장이 실제로 활용된 양상을 고찰했다. 첫째, <현정승집도(玄亭勝集圖)>에 주목하여 유경종을 위시한 주변인물들이 활발하게 인장을 사용했음을 증명했다. 둘째, 인영집인 『해암인소(海巖印所)』를 중점적으로 소개했다. 이 귀중한 책자는 강세황이 유경종에게 선사한 인장 236방을 날인한 인보(印譜)를 원본으로 하여 유경종의 오촌 조카인 유신(柳賮)이 임모한 것이다. 수록된 인장과 서발문을 통해, 그들이 소장한 인장의 실제와 인장에 대한 인식을 밝혔다. 마지막으로는 실물로 전하는 인장을 조명했다. 진주유씨 가문이 안산시의 성호기념관에 위탁한 약 29방의 인장 안에는 위에서 조사한 그림 및 인보에 사용된 그 실물이 포함되어 있다.
결론적으로, 시화첩과 인보 그리고 인장 실물을 두루 확인할 수 있는 귀한 사례가 바로 18세기 유경종 가문임을 확인하게 되었으며, 이를 통해 당대 조선에서 인장이 향유되는 현장을 보다 선명히 조명해 볼 수 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Even though stamps are interesting objects in Korean culture, there have not been many researches on them. Thus, this thesis concretely researched a phase of utilizing stamps by focusing on Liu Gyungjong(柳慶種) actively working in Ansan(安山) region of Gyeonggi-do in the 18th century, and also on the people around him.
Chapter2 examines the testimonies related to stamps through 『Haeamgo(海巖稿)』by Liu Gyungjong. He left relatively plentiful records of stamps from his 20s to his 60s. His taste in stamps was based on paintings which incorporated poetry and calligraphy as well as the art of engraving stamps. All this originated from an artistic relationship between him and his brother-in-law Kang Sehwang(姜世晃). The contents that were understood through records and testimonies became precious clues for interpreting the paintings enjoyed by surroundings of Liu Gyungjong, his collection of stamps, and actual stamps.
Chapter3 considers the actual utilization of stamps by the family of Liu Gyungjong. First, through analyzing < Hyeojeongseungjipdo(玄亭勝集圖) >, the research shows that Liu Gyungjong and the people around him actively used stamps. Second, the chapter introduces a collection of stamps 『Haeaminseo(海巖印所)』. This precious booklet of stamps is a copy of original text of Inbo that was sealed with 236 stamps and presented by Kang Sehwang to Liu Gyungjong. The copy was made by Liu Sin(柳賮) who was a cousin of Liu Gyungjong. Through these stamps, the prologue and the epilogue, the reality of stamps in the collections and the perception of those stamps is revealed. Lastly, the stamps themselves are reviewed. Roughly 29 stamps entrusted by Jinju(晉州) Liu Clan to Seongho(星湖) Memorial Hall in Ansan City include the actual articles used for Inbo(印譜) and the paintings researched above.
In conclusion, the family of Liu Gyungjong of the 18th century was a rare case in that we are able to verify all the books of poetry & paintings, Inbo, and the actual stamps. Through this study, the utilization of stamps in the Joseon Dynasty is more clearly illuminated.
