This paper is a study of PWM control method of a circulating current type cycloconverter with a resonant circuit for induction heating. A method of input power factor improvement in the cycloconverter is proposed. Since a circulating current flows through the circulating current reactor, the output currents are nearlly sinusoid and continuous. The cycloconverter can be keep the input displacement factor at 1.0 by control reactive power regardless of load. The operational principles are descrived, the PWM control functions are derived. The simulation results are presented.
