중세 시학과 수사학―『새로운 시학(Poetria nova)』을 중심으로- = L’art poetique et la rhetorique au moyen age-A propos de Poetria nova de Geoffrey of Vinsauf-

Au moyen âge, la relation entre la rhétorique et la grammaire est indissociable. Les arts poétiques du XIIe et XIIIe siècles se situent à l’intersection de Trivium. En introduisant le système de la rhétorique dans la grammaire, les professeurs de grammaire peuvent proposer un nouvel art poétique.
Les sources de la Poetria nova, en hexamètres, dédié au pape Innocent III, sont l’essentiel de la Rhétorique à Herennius, De l’invention de Cicéron, l’Épître aux Pisons d’Horace, etc. Au moyen âge l’Épître aux Pisons s’appelait Poetria. Proposer une Poetria nova, c’était donc récrire Horace et sa poétique. Le propos de Geoffrey est de remplir poetria d'Horace un peu abstraite d'une substance plus pédagogique et systématique.
Le titre même de la Poetria nova nous montre l’autre but de Geoffrey. Dans le dédicace et l’épilogue, il décrit la fugure du pape Innocent III sous l’image de puer senex. Il supplie au pape, physicus et pastor destiné à rajeunir le monde, d’apporter au monde la grâce et la lumière, de recréer à nouveau le premier Adam. Comme la langue rajeunie, la Poetria nova ouvre la voie pour l’avènement d’un homo novus.
