김종직의 초기시에 담긴 ‘애민의식’ 재론 - ‘사의식(士意識)’의 일환으로서 - = Re-examine Kim Jong-Jik’s Early Poem of ‘People’s Love Consciousness’ - As Part of the Self-consciousness as a Scholar (士意識) -

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 『회당고』(悔堂稿) 등에 수록된 김종직의 초기시를 대상으로, 그의 애민의식이 즉자적 공감의 차원을 넘어 대자적 사의식의 발로로 이어지는 성과를 추적한 것이다. 김종직이 10대에 밀양 등지에서 수학하던 시기, 영남의 민은 잦은 자연재해로 인해 정주(定住)와 생업 영위에 고통을 겪었고, 여기에 더해 수취제도의 맹점으로 인한 이중고까지 감내해야 했다.
김종직은 민의 질고에 깊이 밀착하고 진정성 있게 공감하는 자세를 확장하여, 그러한 질고가 초래된 이면의 문제, 즉 수취와 구휼을 포함한 제도적 문제와 리(吏)·지방관의 무관심 등 계급적 문제에 주목하였다. 특히 민에 가장 밀착해 있는 ‘사’인 지방관이 무엇에 주안점을 두고 민생을 해결해야 하는지를 실천적 차원에서 제기하였다.
김종직은 ‘사’가 민의 생존본능을 지켜줌은 물론 그들의 정신적 안정을 도모하는 존재임을 명시하고, 그것이 일방적 시혜가 아닌 상보적 관계에 기반한 것임을 제시하였다. 즉, 김종직의 애민의식은 민의 삶에 대한 면밀한 공감과 비판적 시화라는 즉자적 차원에서 나아가, 민을 통해 능동적 애민의 주체로서 사의 역할과 존재의의를 구체적으로 발현하는 대자적 사의식의 구축으로 가시화된다는 점에서 애민시의 내적 전통에 새롭게 기여하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study re-examines the poems written by Kim Jong-Jik (金宗直) from his school days to the beginning of his bureaucratic life, and traces the process of expanding feelings of compassion and empathy for the people into self-consciousness of scholarship. When Kim Jong-Jik was a teenager studying in Miryang (密陽) and other places, the people of Yeongnam had difficulties in settling and living due to frequent natural disasters, and had to suffer from double trouble due to the limitations of the tax system. It is meaningful that Kim Jong-Jik said that the people’s suffering began with institutional problems such as the collection and relief system and class problems such as the indifference of local public officials. To solve these problems, he asked questions about what policies local public officials closest to the people should pursue and what practical problems they are interested in, and sought answers. In addition, it is suggested that Kim Jong-Jik imagines the existence of a scholar as one who not only protects the survival instinct of the people but also promotes mental stability, but is based on a complementary relationship. In other words, Kim Jong-Jik’s public affection consciousness goes beyond an immediate level of closeness, empathy, and critical poetry to people’s lives to establish the role and meaning of his existence as an active subject of compassion. In this regard, it can be evaluated that it has laid a new foothold in the inner tradition of poem about one’s love for the people (愛民詩).
