      In this paper, I examined critically the problems of the recommended books for adolescents in Korea. I argued the past, the present, and the alternative future of selecting the recommended books for adolescents in this paper. First of all, I argued the origin of selecting the recommended books for adolescents. From 1980’s, the recognition about the adolescents with a clear and detailed strategy in Korean society. This background have made the social system of selecting the recommended books for adolescents in Korea. Nowadays the activities of selecting the recommended books for adolescents aim at the model of a desirable adult reader. But we should keep in mind the fact that selecting the recommended books for adolescents targets adolescents themselves. Because adolescents are interested in their identity, we should be considerate to select the recommended books for adolescents to encourage searching the self identity through reading books for adolescents. In conclusion, I empathized selecting the recommended books for adolescents should be pursued considering the concrete adolescents now and here, and based on that attitude, searching the self identity by themselves.
