蒙･元帝國 시기 콩기라트 부의 발전과 정치적 역할 = The Formation, Development and Political Role of the Qonggirat Tribe at the Age of Mongol-Yuan Empire

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 몽골 제국에서 중요한 정치적 쟁점이었던 칸위 계승 분쟁에서 황실의 외척 세력으로 영향력을 발휘한 콩기라트 부의 역할을 조명하였다. 이를위해 몽골 제국의 성립부터 대원 울루스, 이른 바 ‘원나라’라고 불렸던 시기를한데 묶어 蒙･元帝國 시기라 설정하고 이 시기에 발생한 칸위 계승 분쟁과콩기라트 부가 어떤 정치적 행보를 보였는지를 살펴보았다.
몽골 제국을 건설하고 이후에 국정을 주도하면서 중요한 정책을 결정하는 것은 황금 씨족이라 불리는 제국의 지도자들, 즉 칭기스칸의 직계 후손들이었지만, 그들이 정권을 수립하고 유지하는 데에는 콩기라트 부의 역할이 지대했다.
몽･원 제국의 정치적 갈등은 대를 거듭할수록 심화되었고 내부 전쟁까지 발발하였다. 이 과정에서 콩기라트 부는 제국의 근간을 흔드는 위협을 제거하기위해 내부의 정쟁과 외부의 전쟁에서 활약하여 위급한 순간을 넘길 수 있게하였다. 따라서 황금 씨족의 계보를 잇고 제국을 버틸 수 있게 한 것은 결국에는 콩기라트 부의 선택과 행동으로 인한 것이라 평가하는 게 타당하다는 판단이 든다.

This article introduces the role of Qonggirat Tribe, who played an influential role as a royal relative in the important political debate of the Mongol Empire - the succession dispute. To this end, the period known as the Great Yuan Urus and the Yuan Dynasty since the establishment of the Mongol Empire was combined and set as the Mongol Yuan Empire period, to examine the succession disputes that occurred during this period and the political trends in the Qonggirat Tribe.
The leaders of the Mongol Empire known as the Golden Clan, who were the direct descendants of Genghis Khan, established the Mongol Empire and decided important policies in the subsequent process of leading national politics. However, in establishing and maintaining political power, Qonggirat Tribe played a significant role.
In the Mongol Yuan Empire, political conflicts deepened generation after generation, and even internal wars broke out. During this process, Qonggirat Tribewas active in internal political struggles and external wars in order to eliminate the threat of shaking the foundation of the empire, enabling it to overcome critical moments.
Therefore, some people believe that continuing the lineage of the Golden Clan to support the empire is ultimately due to the choices and actions of the Qonggirat Tribe government, which is appropriate.
