일반청소년, 범죄청소년의 특성, 우울성향과 영적복지와의 상관성 연구 = A Study on the Comparison of Local and Incarcerated Adolescents‘ Characteristics and its Relationships with Depressive Symptoms and Spiritual Well-Being

The purpose of the present study is to explore (1)the characteristics of depressive symptoms among incarcerated and after-care adolescents as well local secondary students who have never been convicted and (2)the importance of familial and religious support for preventing the possibility of being involved in the subsequent ill-behaviors. The sample included adolescents aged 12 to 16 who were incarcerated, released from the care units, and attending local secondary-schools. Self-report information were derived from the Spiritual Well-Being Scale, which gives indicators about religious and existential characteristics, as well as the Malaise Inventory, which gives information about depressive symptoms. The current study found that the prevalence of depressive symptoms was associated with familial characteristics and religious attendance. In general, these findings suggest a strong relationship among parenting, academic achievements, religious attendance, depressive symptoms, and existential well-being for the local secondary-school students, although economic, parenting, and religious factors were important for incarcerated and after-care students' depressive symptoms and existential well-being. The result is especially meaningful for correctional and probational officials as well as local secondary-school teachers.
