This study is a research for the formation and development of romantic Chuanchi dealing with the war, taking note of the fact that romantic Chuanchi dealing with the war had been continuously written. The first short story was 「A story of Yi Saeng's peeping in the wall」in 『New Stories from Geum-Oh』. We could find out a form in 「A story of Yi Saeng's peeping in the wall」in which a man and a woman met and parted during the war, and the form made a stream in the Korean novel until seventeen century. The narrative form, I think, connotes a significant clue to understand the formation and development of the Korean novel, so it could be meaningful to elucidate the characteristics of the form. I tried to find a new way to explain by using the e method of 'compare and contrast'. 「A story of Yi Saeng's peeping in the wall」in 『New Stories from Geum-Oh』resembles 「A story of Chui Chui」in 『New Stories read by snuffing a lampwick』in Yuan Dynasty in the aspects of structure. And 「A story of Chui Chui」is also connected with 「A story of Madame Yoo」, a Chuanchi of Tang Dynasty. I should compare it again with 「A story of Yi Saeng's peeping in the wall」. As a result, I could make out the formative process of romantic Chuanchi dealing with the war, because 「A story of Madame Yoo」is in a state of not so fully embodying the war into the structure. It is thought that a current of the Korean novel could be objectified from getting hold of the stream of Chinese novel as well as the stream of Korean.
