커먼즈 패러다임과 로컬리티의 문제

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 기본적으로 존재론적 감옥인 근대에서 벗어나서 대안근대를 구축하는 일이 무엇보다도 커먼즈를 구축하는 실천에 의해 잘 이루어질 수 있다고 보고 이 실천을 포괄적으로 표현하는 커먼즈 패러다임의 벡터들을 살펴보는 것을 주된 작업으로 삼을 것이다.
이 논문은 우선 『정치경제학 비판 요강』에 나타난, 자본주의로의 이행과정에 대한 맑스의 연구를 다시 살펴보면서, 자본의 출현의 핵심이 그것이 전통적인 커먼즈의 붕괴로 인해 원자화된 개체들을 매개자의 위치에서 통합하고 이러한 개체들이 가진 삶의 활력을 포섭하는 삶권력으로서 등장한 데 있음을 확인할 것이다. 이어서 그렇게 수립된 근대는 개인들의 활력을 미리 정해진 형태에 가두는 존재론적 감옥이 되며 따라서 이 감옥으로부터의 해방은 무엇보다도 원자화를 넘어선 생태론적 관점과 자율의 회복, (재)특이화, 공통적인 것(the common)의 구축을 통해 가능함을 제시할 것이다. 이것들이 바로 커먼즈 패러다임을 구성하는 주요한 벡터들이다.
마지막으로 이러한 벡터들에 비추어서 로컬리티의 문제, 즉 지역성의 문제를 살펴볼 것이다. 지역들 역시 ‘중심-주변’ 구도에 의해 전형적으로 표현되는, 장소들의 위계적 관계라는 근대적 감옥에 갇혀 있는데, 여기서 벗어나기 위해서는 재특이화를 지역에 적용한 ‘재지역화’(relocalization)―지역의 자급과 자치의 회복 및 특이한 삶 형태의 회복―가 필요하다는 주장을 제시할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This thesis aims to consider the vectors that go to the composing of the commons paradigm ― a paradigm which comprehensively expresses the efforts to move beyond modernity towards altermodernity ― and, based on this, to help address the problem of locality. The commons paradigm, starting from the study of the traditional commons, and later significantly prompted by the emergence of the digital commons, has come to occupy the position of a paradigm alternative to that of the market/state duopoly.
This thesis will make it clear, by revisiting Marx’s investigation of the rise of capitalism in Grundrisse, that what lies at the heart of the origin of modernity is, on the one hand, the reduction of individual beings, atomized by the collapse of traditional commons, to the state of crippling alienation and, on the other hand, the rise of capital as a biopower that integrates, and thereby restrains, the puissance of individual beings.
Furthermore, this thesis will argue that the modernity thus established is an ontological prison, based on sameness―homogeneity, equivalence, identity―and that liberation from this prison will be possible, above all, by the restoration of ecological wholeness and autonomy, (re)singularization, and the construction of the common. These are the very vectors that constitute the commons paradigm. These vectors point to the direction in which all the efforts that seek to bring about the transition to the altermodernity should move,
Lastly, this thesis will briefly consider the problem of locality. The vectors in question operate, above all, for the liberation of the singular puissance of the individual beings, and a local place can be considered a geographically individual being. Thus resingularization necessary for making a commons implies, in terms of locality, relocalization, that is, the restoration of autonomous self-provisioning state to the localities. This relocalization will free localities from the frame of center-periphery relation, which is an instance of geographical subjection peculiar to modernity. Moreover, now the newly-emerged digital world can provide localities with the real possibility of making a direct rhizomatic relation, peculiar to commons, with any place on the globe.
