Hutchins의 시각에서 본 한국의 대학교육

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 Hutchins의 관점에서 대학의 목적과 본질에 대한 개념을 명료화하며, 대학교육의 실천을 위한 개선점을 찾는 데 그 목적이 있다. 대학은 학문의 공동체이디. Hutchins논 시고, 지성, 자유를 통한 진리탐구와 대학개혁을 주장했다. 이를 실현하는 그의 방법들은 명료화와 재해석이다. 이 두 가지는 오늘날에도 민주적ㆍ창의적인 사회를 만드는 대학언의 사명인 것이다.
지식과 사회현상에 대한 대학의 명료화와 재해석으로 인하여 인간과 조직의 행복과 만족감음 창출할 수 있는 효과성을 높일 수 있다. 교육목적과 교육내용의 명확한 구분만으로도 각 학교조직 내의 긍정적 시너지의 창출을 기대할 수 있을 것이다. 대학의 역할, 교수의 기능 등에 대한 개념적 재정립도 대학의 개선을 위해 필수적인 과업인 것이다.
결론적으로 Hutchins가 주장한 교육에 대한 명료화와 재해석은 그것의 고유성과 독창성을 살리는 일이며, 대학에서 사소한 것을 제거하고 중요한 것을 실천하는 신중한 노력으로 이해되는 것이다.

The educational theories of Hutchins is still discussed and debated. Hutchins offered energetic ideas about innovations of university and embodied the spirit of the University.
The mission of university he contended is the clarification and reinterpretation. The conceptions of the nature and purpose of universities he proposed originated and illuminated the proper conducts of the universities.
Hutchins □□ argument about higher education is accepted and understood as the lonely voice of reason and intelligence in a world of mediocrity. And the ideals of higher education he recognized struck up for a new world, namely □□ University of Utopia □□by thinking and great conversations. Also Hutchins was a strong advocate of academic freedom and inquiry of truth.
I concluded that Hutchins endorsed the new ideas and methods for the improvement of liberal education through the emphasis on the □□ great books □□ and the revolution of administration in the college and university.
