This study is to examine and compare the preference for study course and occupation of science gifted/talented and general students in middle school. Subjects were 132 gifted/talented students of the Science-gifted Education Center, Seoul National University, and 302 general middle school students. The level of preference for natural science subjects of gifted/talented students was 87% of total, they have the highest preference for mathematics of them. Male gifted/talented students have a preference for mathematics and physics, but female gifted/talented students have a preference for biology and mathematics. The level of preference for natural science subjects of general middle school students was very lower than that of preference for others. The preferring reason to study course of science gifted/talented and general middle school students were interest, achievement, fruit and joy, and inquiring mind. The interest of preferring reasons to study course was the highest level. Whereas occupations that gifted/talented students preferred were medical doctor and physician, general middle school students preferred computer engineer to others. Most of gifted/talented and general students preferred for occupations because of occupational interest.
