세네갈 거리 아동 선교를 수행하는 사역자의 영적 돌봄과 자기관리 방안 = Spiritual Care and Self-Formation of Missionaries Engaged in Street Children Ministry in Senegal: A Theological and Phenomenological Inquiry

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 세네갈의 거리 아이들과 함께 하는 선교사들의 영적 돌봄과 자기관리, 장기 사역 유지를 위한 전략에 초점을 맞추는 데 있다. 사헬 지역이 사막화 되고 있는 지리적·환경적 도전이 자리한 세네갈 내 거리 아동들은 극심한 빈곤과 종교적 구조 속에서 구걸과 노동, 학대를 경험하고 있다. 거리 아동들을 대상으로 한 사역은 선교사에게 정서적 소진과 영적 탈진을 초래할 수 있다. 이러한 상황에 사역자의 영적으로 건강한 삶은 사역의 지속성과 효과성에 결정적인 영향을 미친다. 본 논문은 성경에 나타난 자기 돌봄의 원리, 영적 분별력, 그리고 선교학의 멤버 케어(Member Care)를 바탕으로 사역자의 영적 자기관리 및 유지하는 방안을 제시한다. 또한 사역자가 실천할 수 있는 구체적 영적 루틴과 멘토링 기반의 영적 감독, 심리적·정서적 회복 기제, 그리고 문화적 긴장 완화와 인내력 함양의 중요성을 논한다. 선교사 및 선교 단체에 실행 가능한 통찰을 제공하고자 한다. 선교사의 영적 건강과 그들이 섬기는 사회적 맥락 모두를 다루는 선교 사역에 대한 종합적 접근의 필요성을 강조한다. 본 연구는 선교사 돌봄에 대한 이론적·실천적 이해에 기여하며, 선교 현장에서 사역의 장기적 지속 가능성을 보장하기 위한 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this thesis is to examine strategies for the spiritual care, self-management, and long-term sustainability of missionaries serving among street children in Senegal. Situated within the Sahel region, where desertification continues to advance, Senegal’s street children live under severe poverty and within complex religious and socio-cultural structures that often expose them to begging, labor exploitation, and abuse. Ministry among such vulnerable populations inevitably places missionaries under intense emotional strain and spiritual fatigue. In this context, the missionary’s own spiritual well-being becomes a decisive factor in the continuity and fruitfulness of the mission.
Grounded in biblical principles of self-care, spiritual discernment, and the missiological framework of Member Care, this thesis proposes an integrated approach to sustaining the inner and vocational health of missionaries. It explores practical spiritual disciplines that can be embodied in daily life, the value of mentoring-based spiritual supervision, and mechanisms for psychological and emotional restoration. Furthermore, the thesis highlights the importance of cultivating cultural resilience, patience, and intercultural sensitivity as essential virtues for cross-cultural ministry in the Sahel context.
By offering both theoretical and practical insights, this research contributes to the growing discourse on missionary well-being and proposes actionable models for missionary organizations. Ultimately, it underscores the need for a holistic missiological approach that embraces both the spiritual formation of the missionary and the complex socio-cultural realities of the communities they serve.
