In this study, the aim was to analyze the impact of death anxiety on successful aging among elderly women and to verify the moderating effect of exercise value perception on significant pathways. Data were collected from 184 elderly women participating in senior welfare center programs, and analyzed in accordance with the research objectives, yielding the following results.
First, it was found that death anxiety in elderly women negatively affects autonomous living and self-actualization orientation in successful aging, leading to the conclusion that lower death anxiety can increase autonomous living and self-actualization orientation.
Second, it was identified that the health promotion/exercise skills and social-psychological factors of exercise value perception act as moderating variables in the impact of death anxiety on autonomous living and self-actualization orientation in successful aging. Particularly, higher levels of health promotion/exercise skills and social-psychological aspects of exercise value perception were found to positively influence the relationship between death anxiety and successful aging. This led to the conclusion that the perception of exercise value is important for elderly women.
