XML is standard meta language for exchanging data on the web and provides user-defined document structures through DTD(Document Type Definition). This structural flexibility has far more extensible functions than HTML, by providing a basis to integrate, store, and process all data on the web.
This study implemented an automatic converter that changes HTML to XML documents, by analyzing HTML document structures on the web and extracting necessary element of the documents. The converter performs XML conversion in the way it recognizes the data path information, which is located in the terminal part of each element in the DTD structure generated by necessary element extracting, and then maps the data. Users can define their own structure in the converter, which provides document structures as tree forms. It was implemented focusing on users convenience, so that anybody can use it easily.
