The purpose of this study was to explore factors influencing recovery from mental illness in people with mental disorders based on Expanded Stress-Vulnerability Model. This study utilized a descriptive correlational design.
The convenience sample was composed of 90 subjects in an intermediate mental health care setting. Stepwise multiple regression was used to identify significant
factors influencing recovery. Resiliency and therapeutic relationship were shown to be significant factors. This regression model explained 62% of the variance in
recovery. The factor with the highest influence was resiliency which explained 49.7% of the variance. On the other hand, therapeutic relationship explained 13.3%
of the variance. Improving resiliency and building therapeutic relationship should be considered and included in caring people with mental disorders.
