In February, 1917, Petrograd workers rose in rebellion against the czarist regime. They have been discontented with food shortage and bread ration problem for a long time, particularly after the participation in the world war I. This kind of discontent made them rise against. As a result of this rebellion, the provisional government was established in Russia. This, however, was just a beginning for transforming Russian old regime. Russian peasantry expected provisional government to show them a good solution on land problem. But the government did not satisfied their expectation in a proper time. As the government did not try to do, peasants who have been too tired to anticipate a little more began to occupy lands and take over landowner's properties. These kind of actions were a spontaneous movement carried out by peasants themselves without any active supports that we are often apt to suppose. From the viewpoint of this spontaneity, I will examine the character of the peasant movement in 1917 on this paper.
