      Since Alphago, which is an artificial intelligence (AI) for Go, an Asian board game, defeated Sedol Lee, who was the winner of 18 world titles in Go, AI has developed dramatically. This technology is critical to developing autonomous vehicles. Because the AI algorithm learns by itself and makes a decision from the information it learned, accidents involving autonomous cars can encounter complex legal issues related to torts in American law.
      This thesis analyzed AI technology and legal issues which can be raised when traffic accidents of autonomous cars. In this thesis, self-driving technology and AI technology will be analyzed deeply under legal theories, and from the view of jurisprudence, the causes of accidents will be considered.
      Consequently, amid rapidly developing technology, lawyers will need assistance to deal with legal issues raised by the technology and complex problems. Because AI, especially, is one of the most notable technology these days, this paper can help them relate to AI and autonomous vehicles.
