      This study was aimed to investigate and compare biomechanical characteristics in Korean soccer players diagnosed with chronic low back pain to those in other soccer players with no low back pain. We recruited 19 soccer players with low back pain who had no disc herniation, radiculopathy, inflammatory spondylopathy or neurologic deficits and 18 players without ailments. We performed biomechanical assessments in lower extremities and pelvis. The following parameters were measured: Pelvic obliquity angle, pelvic elevation angle in Trendelenburg position, pelvic rotation, inversion/eversion angle including the neutral position at subtalar joint, forefoot angle to rearfoot and angle of resting calcaneal stance position. The followings show parameters with statistical differences in back pain group: Low right pelvic level in standing, increased inversion angle and decreased eversion angle at right subtalar joint, and increased right calcaneal varus angle in standing position. Also, asymmetrical pelvic clockwise rotation was found in 17 of 19 players with back pain. In conclusion, these biomechanical differences in the patient group can be considered as one of the major risk factors for low back pain.
