This study is a study on the emotions of North and South Koreans looking at pictures of the North Korean Rodong Sinmun. The interview was conducted by dividing the photos of the Rodong Sinmun into four areas: politics, military, economy, and people's lives, and showing them to eight South Koreans and eight North Korean defectors. It was conducted as a qualitative research method to confirm the emotions, feelings, and personal experiences of the participants. In addition, in order to check whether the photo explanation affects the participants' emotions, it was divided into explanatory and unexplained photos. As a result of the study, emotional words appeared in all fields for North Korean defectors. It was confirmed that emotional words appeared only in the field of economy and people's lives in the Republic of Korea. In addition, it was confirmed that explantory pictures had more influence on the participants' emotions than unexplained pictures.
Therefore, it was conclued that if the opportunity for the South Korean people to see more pictures of North Korea's economy and people's lives is provided, it can contribute to the restoration of the homegeneity of the two Koreas.
