The purpose of this study is to be helpful for dancers in doing efficient dance activities and provide basic materials for dance educators by investigating the relationship between intrinsic motivation and resilience of the dancers who participated in work activities to recognize the importance of the intrinsic motivation which is the psychological factor of the dancers and its impact on resilience.
The specific hypothesis of this study is as follows. First, interest will have an impact on resilience in the intrinsic motivation of the dancers who participated in work activities. Second, competence will have an impact on resilience in the intrinsic motivation of the dancers who participated in work activities. Third, an effort will have an impact on resilience in the intrinsic motivation of the dancers who participated in work activities. Fourth, tension will have an impact on resilience in the intrinsic motivation of the dancers who participated in work activities.
A survey was conducted by selecting 252 students of the dance department of universities in Seoul after checking whether or not they had participated in the work activities. The convenience sampling was used as a sampling method and the selected subjects were asked to respond to the questionnaire by self-assessment method. A total of 320 questionnaires were distributed by adding 200 questionnaires as a main survey after conducting a preliminary survey of 120 questionnaires. Out of them, 252 questionnaires were used for the actual analysis excluding the questionnaires with incomplete responses or dual responses that were determined to be not usable in this study.
For the study tasks, the questionnaire modified and adapted by Park Ji-young (2010) based on the survey questionnaire developed by Ryan (1982) and adapted by Sung Chang-hoon (1996) for 23 questions was first used as the questionnaire to investigate the intrinsic motivation of the dancers who participated in work activities after modifying and complementing it to be suitable for this study. Second, as the questionnaire to investigate the resilience of the dancers who participated in work activities, the questionnaire that was modified and complemented to be suitable for this study based on the 53 questions of resilience index <KRQ-53 tests> by Kim J00-hwan (2011) was used.
The data were analyzed by using SPSS for Windows version 17.0 as follows. First, factor analysis was conducted to factorize the questions on the intrinsic motivation and resilience of the dancers who participated in work activities, and a reliability analysis was conducted to verify the reliability between each question. In addition, a frequency analysis which is a descriptive statistical analysis was conducted to get the frequency and percentage of general characteristics, and then a correlation analysis was conducted to check multicollinearity. A multiple regression analysis was conducted to investigate the relationships between the intrinsic motivation and resilience of the dancers who participated in work activities.
