Records of Han river’s pontoon bridge construction and its trial products show well the excellence of King Jeongjo’s material culture. King Jeongjo Han river’s pontoon bridge was the substance of that time’s scientific technology that tried to increase the firmness and safety. The point of establishing the main bridge manager and resuming by manual the bridge installation technology through 『the main bridge guidance』 etc to use it for each year’s bridge construction also has a technically great significance. The thorough and careful recording spirit like this resulted also in 『Wonhaengeulmyojeongrieugoe』, 『Hwaseongseongyeokeugoe』 etc. These days, these are the perfect assets in the world.
This result was based on Jeongjo’s excellent personal skill. The successful operation of Han river pontoon bridge construction project was possible thanks to Jeongjo’s technical and scientific recognition and his political consciousness that has reinforced the royal power, understood well people’s mind and contributed to an easy state affair. Moreover, the record of those writers’ Han river pontoon bridge and their poetic embodiment works show that the king and the nobles shared the higher level of material culture with pride. Also, it shows that not only the royal family and nobles but also the common people enjoyed the material culture by Han river’s pontoon bridge.
