음주가 고령자 우울감에 미치는 영향 분석 = The Relationship between Alcohol Consumption Patterns and Elderly Depression : Korean Case

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study analyzes the relationship between alcohol consumption pattern and elderly depression using KLoSA 2nd to 6th data. The results showed that drinking lowered the depression of the elderly. Also, moderate drinking and heavy drinking were significantly lower in depression than non-drinking group. Men with preference for soju had low depression, but women who drink soju had high depression. Significant effects of alcohol-lowering alcohol were greater in groups not participating in the labor market or under-median income group. The lowering of depression in the elderly was also confirmed in the fixed effect model considering endogeneity.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 고령화연구패널(KLoSA) 2~6차 자료를 이용하여 음주특성, 고령자의 건강, 일, 관계 등 삶의 질을 통제한 후 음주가 고령자(65~85세) 우울감에 미치는 영향을 분석한다. 분석결과 음주는 고령자의 우울감을 낮추고 과거 음주는 했으나 현재 술을 마시지 않는 경우 우울감을 높이는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 소주를 음주량의 80%이상 섭취하여 소주 선호가 있는 여성의 경우 그렇지 않은 그룹에 비해 우울감이 더 높았다. 고령자의 사회적 관계 및 일상생활의 질을 고려한 분석에 따르면 노동시장 참여, 정기적 운동, 사람간의 관계, 건강 상태의 유지 등 고령자 삶의 질을 구성하는 다양한 요소들을 고루 갖출 때 적절한 알콜의 사용은 고령자의 우울감을 완화시키는 것으로 나타났다.
