손정의의 기업가정신과 소프트뱅크의 성장전략 = Entrepreneurship of Masayoshi Son and Growth Strategy of SoftBank

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 기업가사 및 기업사적 관점에서 손정의의 기업가정신과 소프트뱅크의성장전략을 분석했다. 본 연구는 사회적 환경 관점에서 기업가적 전략 및 성장 프로세스, 기업가 네크워크가 손정의의 기업가정신 형성에 어떤 영향을 미쳤는지 그리고 손정의의기업가정신이 기업의 발전 방향을 어떻게 이끌었는지를 제시했다. 손정의가 성장하며 형성해온 그의 개인적 야망과 진취성, 글로벌 감각, 네트워크 구축 역량은 손정의의 기업가정신을 이루는 핵심 요소들이며, 이는 소프트뱅크가 일본 시장을 넘어 글로벌 기업으로부상하고 지속적으로 신시장을 개척하고 그 안에서 생존하고 성장하는 동태적 역량을 갖춘 기업이 되는데 기여했다. 또한 본 연구는 이와 같은 손정의의 기업가정신을 토대로1981년 창립기부터 현재까지 소프트뱅크의 성장 과정을 기업의 핵심사업이 전환되는 시점을 중심으로 창업기, 성장기, 통합기, 확장기로 구분했고, 각 시기별로 기업의 성장역사와 핵심사업 및 성장전략이 어떻게 변화해왔는지 설명했다. 창업기(1981~1995)의 소프트뱅크는 PC 소프트웨어 유통시장에서 기업의 정당성을 확보하고 신생조직의 취약성을극복한 후 곧바로 신사업 추가와 해외투자를 시작했다. 성장기(1996~2005)의 소프트뱅크는 핵심사업을 과거 전통적인 PC 사업에서 인터넷 사업으로 전환하였고 인터넷 사업을중심으로 비즈니스 포트폴리오를 다각화하기 위해 본격적으로 인수합병을 통한 해외투자를 시작했다. 통합기(2006~2015)의 소프트뱅크는 또다시 핵심사업을 통신업으로 다시한번 전환하였고 플랫폼 독점 전략이라는 공격적인 해외투자를 성장동력으로 삼았다. 오늘날 소프트뱅크는 4차 산업혁명 신기술 분야에 투자를 시작하며 패러다임 변화를 주도하는 확장기(2016~ )에 진입했다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study examined the entrepreneurship of Masayoshi Son, and analyzed the growth history and strategy of SoftBank. We analyzed the growth process as well as the entrepreneurial network of Masayoshi Son, and suggested how these influenced the formation of innovative entrepreneurship of Masayoshi Son which consequently led the direction of SoftBank’s development. In addition, this study divided the growth history of SoftBank into start-up period, growth period, integration period, and expansion period. In the start-up period(1981~1995), SoftBank achieved corporate legitimacy in the PC software market and overcame its liability of newness. Then, the core business sector shifted from the PC industries to the Internet industries in the growth period(1996~2005) and the firm started to accelerate diversification through cross-border M&As. In the integration period(2006~2015), SoftBank transformed its core business into telecommunication business and tried to monopolize platform businesses to maintain its sustainable growth. Today, SoftBank entered its expansion period(2016~ ) and started to invest in new technologies which let the firm to lead paradigm shift in the fourth industrial revolution era.
