고딕예술양식의 특징을 응용한 텍스타일디자인 연구 = (A) study on the textile design applying the characteristics of Gothic modes of art

국문 초록 (Abstract)

새로운 것을 요구하고 유행에 민감한 소비자의 욕구를 충족시키기 위해 디자이너는 항상 창조적인 생각 자유로운 표현, 그리고 개성을 예술양식의 특징에 접목시키고자 하는 노력을 끊임없이 하고 있다.
예술양식은 과거 각 시대의 역사와 특징을 한 문화 알아 볼 수 있는 중요한 문화 유산으로서 현재를 살아가고 있는 우리가 잘 보존하고 발전시켜 나가야 후세에도 훌륭한 예술양식으로 남아 그 시대의 아름다움과 독창성을 보여줄 수 있다.
본 논문에서는 고딕 예술양식 중 건축양식과 직물양식이 갖는 특징들을 고찰 및 분석하여 텍스타일 디자인에 적용하였다.
본 연구의 내용은
첫째, 고딕 건축양식의 시대적 배경, 조형적 특징 및 상징성에 대해 고찰하였다. 고딕 건축은 질서있는 합리적 구조와 기하학적인 좌우대칭의 기능적 인 구조와 합리적인 공간 개념을 창조하였고, 고딕 건축의 진정한 의미는 수직성에 의한 공간의 연속성과 빛에 의한 공간의 투명성을 지니고 있다.
둘째, 고딕 직물양식의 배경과 특징에 대해 고찰하였다.
고딕시대 직물은 고딕 건축의 실내 장식이나 성직자, 왕과 귀족 등의 화려한 의복에 많이 사용되었다. 유럽의 여러 나라들 중 고딕양식이 처음 시작된 프랑스의 태피스트리와 프랑스 직물에 영향을 준 이탈리아를 중심으로 문직기에서 만들어진 실크 직물에 관하여 고찰하였다.
이와 같은 이론적인 배경을 중심으로 작품 테마를 구성하여 작품을 제작하였다. 작품에 사용 된 패턴은 고딕 예술양식의 특징에 바탕을 두어 깊이감과 입체감을 부여하면서 현재의 디자인 시대적 흐름에 적합한 다양한 디자인을 제시하였다.
본 연구에서 얻은 결론은
첫째, 문화적 접근을 통한 방법으로, 고딕 예술양식의 특징을 텍스타일 디자인에 적용시켜 연구하여서 새로운 형태의 패턴을 제시할 수 있었다.
둘째, 고딕 건축양식의 상징적인 특징들은 기하학적 형태 중에서도 수직적인 형태를 주요 요소로 지니고 있어 텍스타일 디자인으로 표현하기에 효과적이었다.
셋째, 단순화한 기하학적인 형태는 크기 변화와 반복을 부여함으로서 공간감과 시각적인 강렬함을 표현할 수 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In order to satisfy the desire of consumers who demand something new and are sensitive to fashion, a designer is incessantly making the effort to always graft creative thought and free expression and personality into the characteristics of modes of art.
Modes of art, as an important cultural heritage by which one can notice the history and the characteristics of each age of the past at a look, can show the beauty and the originality of the age by being left as excellent ones also in subsequent generations if only we who live at present preserve and develop them well.
In this thesis, I investigated and analyzed the characteristics inherent to architectural and textile modes among Gothic modes of art and applied them to textile design.
The contents of this study are as follows:
First, I have investigated about age background, plastic characteristics and symbolism of Gothic architectural mode. Gothic architecture created orderly rational structure and functional one of geometric left-right symmetry and rational concept of space, and its true meaning has spatial continuity by verticality and spatial transparency by light.
Secondly, I have investigated about the background and the characteristics of Gothic textile mode.
Textile in Gothic age was much used in interior decoration of Gothic architecture or gorgeous apparel of priests, lungs, aristocrats and so on. I have investigated about silk textile made in a figured texture machine centered on Italy affecting the tapestry and the textile of France in which Gothic mode started for the first time among several European countries.
I constructed the themes of works centered on theoretical background like this and manufactured works. I have presented various designs suitable to the age flow of present design, endowing the patterns used in the works with a sense of depth and a cubic sense based on the characteristics of Gothic modes of art.
The conclusion obtained from this study is as follows:
First, by the method through cultural approach, I could present a new form of patterns by applying the characteristics of Gothic modes of art to textile design and studying them.
Secondly, the symbolic characteristics of Gothic architectural mode have vertical forms among geometric ones as primary elements and were effective in being expressed as textile design.
Thirdly, simplified geometric forms could express a sense of space and visual intenseness by endowing them with changes of size and repetition.
