It is the object of this study to complement the unreasonable factor of Velocity pressure of wind in Koran Standard Code and to design the economical structure of building.
In 60 meterological station in south Korea is investigated the yearly mean max. wind speed and yearly gust wind speed.
With comparison and analysis of regulations of several country on velocity pressure, this paper suggests problems in our regulations.
The results obtained are as follows.
(1) The 100years return period of mean max. wind speed in our regulations must be seperated the return period of 5, 50, 100 years according to use of building and material of structure. (Table 2)
(2) Exposure factor of 4 grades in reasonable(3 grades in our regulations) (Table 6)
(3) The four zone of design basic wind speed from 35m/s to 45m/s must be revisoned in five zone from 30/s to 50/s according to return periods and the adjustment of zone is necessary. (Table 5)
(4) Because of adjustment of return period, exposure factor and design basic wind speed must be modified Velocity pressure for structural design as (Table 12) and (Table 13)
