乃菴 崔左海의『孝經』학 -「孝經節解｣와 『孝經竊意』를 중심으로 - = A Study on Naeam Choi Jahae’s View of ‘Book of Fillial Piety’ -Centered on ‘Hyogyeongjeolhae’ and ‘Hyogyeongjeolui’-

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 乃菴 崔左海(1733~1799)의 경학 연구성과 중 孝經 관련 저작인 ｢孝經節解｣와 『孝經竊意』를 검토하고 그것이 조선 효경학사 및 경학사에서 갖는 학술사적 의의를 도출하는 것이 목적이다.
｢효경절해｣와 『효경절의』는 『고문효경』에 저본을 두고 있었고 그 근거는 『고문효경』의 원본 자체가 잘못된 텍스트가 아니라는 것이다. 조선의 『효경』 관련 저작들 중에서는 보다 갖추어진 체재의 『효경』 주석서이면서도 『효경』을 중심 으로 ‘오서’ 체재를 만들었다는 점이 최좌해 저술의 변별점임을 알 수 있었다.
｢효경절해｣와 『효경절의』에 나타난 해석상의 특징은『효경』 전체를 7절로 구분하고 각 절과 절 내의 단까지 유기적인 하나의 텍스트로 인식하고 있었다는 점이다. 구결을 살펴보면 하나의 절을 하나의 문장으로 연결하여 읽으려는 시도가 나타났고 주희가 삭제한 경문에 대한 구결도 나타났는데 이는『고문효경』의 원본을 보존하려는 최좌해의 태도가 반영되어 있고, 경문을 일부 삭제하고 편차를 개정한 주희의 견해에 반드시 동의하지는 않는다는 것이었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study introduces and examines Choi Jahae’s Hyogyeongjeolhae and Hyogyeongjeolui, shedding light on his interpretation of the Book of Filial Piety in terms of textual segmen tation and gugyeol(vernacular glosses). Both Hyogyeongjeolhae and Hyogyeongjeolui are based on the Old Script Version of the Book of Filial Piety, underpinned by the premise that this version is not a corrupted text. Among the Book of Filial Piety-related works in Joseon Korea, Choi Jahae’s writings stand out for their systematic structure and for reorganizing the Book of Filial Piety into the framework of the "Five Books", a unique distinguishing feature of his approach.
A key interpretative characteristic of Hyogyeongjeolhae and Hyogyeongjeolui lies in their division of the Book of Filial Piety into seven sections, viewing each section and its internal passages as an organically interconnected text. In terms of gugyeol, these works reflect an effort to read entire sections as unified sentences, and they also include gugyeol for passages omitted by Zhu Xi. This demonstrates Choi’s intent to preserve the original text of the Old Script Version and his stance of not fully endorsing Zhu Xi’s deletion of certain passages and revisions to the text's structure.
