      Child Abuse and Problematic Behaviors in Early Adolescence: Categorization and Impact Factors

      · Research topics: We aimed to classify child abuse and problematic behaviors in early adolescents into types, and to identify individual and environmental factors that influence the types.
      · Research background: Child abuse by parents is direct to the manifestation of problem behavior, and the problem behavior emerges in various patterns.
      · Differences from prior research: It is necessary to understand and approach their characteristics of research subjects, unlike previous studies that focused on causality.
      · Research method: The subjects were 2,001 first-year middle school students and the data was taken from the Korea Children and Youth Panel Survey. Latent profile analysis and multinominal logistic regression were used.
      · Research results: The types were derived into ‘Low-Abuse, Low-Risk’, ‘High-Abuse, Internalizing Problem’, and ‘High-Abuse, Compound Problem’. Looking at the impact factor on the group, the self-esteem of self-awareness factors lowers the possibility of going to the risk groups, and the number of delinquent peers among the peer factor and the school ties among the school adjustment factor were found to be variables that distinguish the three groups.
