The effect of aging on the the microstructure and hardness of Ag-Pd(-Cu) based alloys was investigated with varying temperatures and times.
1. The matrix and the second phase in Ag-Pd based alloy after being solution-treated are Ag-Pd rich phase and Pd-Zn rich phase, respectively, but the matrix and the second phase in Ag-Pd-Cu based alloy after being solution-treated are Ag-Pd-Cu rich phase and Pd-Cu-Zn rich phase, respectively.
2. By aging at 350℃ and 450℃, the hardness of Ag-Pd-Cu based alloy is higher than that of Ag-Pd based alloy.
3. By aging at 350℃, the hardness of Ag-Pd based alloy and Ag-Pd-Cu based alloy is highest after being aged for 240min, 120min, respectively.
4. By aging at 450℃, the hardness of Ag-Pd based alloy and Ag-Pd-Cu based alloy is highest after being aged for 120min, 60min, respectively.
