      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper is written with the purpose of analyzing Korean goblin culture. Goblins have played a symbolic role in our culture and have been beloved as a subject representing the values and characteristics of our nation for many years. Korean people have grown up hearing goblin stories from a young age. Goblins are still being passed down in various forms such as folklore, oral traditions, and fairy tales in our culture. The first documented appearance of goblins in literature was in the form of the Do Hwanyeobihyang in the "Samguk Yusa," a historical text. Since then, goblins have evolved, encompassing various aspects of Korean culture.
The initial image of goblins was considered a sacred presence in the field of architecture, indicating that in ancient Korean society, goblins were seen as significant role models. However, as times changed, the sanctity of goblins gradually faded, and they became part of folk stories. Contemporary goblins are portrayed in various media and forms, gaining popularity among people through comics, animation, TV dramas, and more. This reflects the role of goblins in combining the continuity and modernity of our culture.
By delving deeper into the value of goblin stories, it is expected that this research will help reevaluate the unique features and identity of our culture, leading to a deeper understanding of our culture and a heightened sense of pride, thereby promoting cultural development for the future. This study is also expected to contribute to understanding contemporary societal issues and building empathy. Furthermore, it will serve as a basis for discussing the future direction and challenges of our culture.
