      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

      The purpose of the education in experimental animation is to let students have vigorous imagination and overcome the limitation in terms of technical expression and concept making process. Moreover, it encourages students to perform the role of a creative film art director based on understanding the production process as they accomplish their independent project. The scholarly core meaning of experimental animation is not producing animation but creating it, and ‘Experiment’ means the process such as story, style, concept, and techniques for creating individually unique animation. Therefore the most important thing in experimental animation education is the system based on the basic principles of animation, and the development of the process for letting students understand the principles and express their creativities. The meaning of this research is to aware the importance of finding a new practical methods that show students the way to find their creativity, and to suggest the model to develop the process. So first, this research redefines the meaning of experimental animation. Second, this study shows the teaching methods from the professors in animation departments in the United States, and analyzes the methods and their meanings. Finally, this study suggests a model of the practical methods to achieve the educational purpose of experimental animation.
