분리성 통사원자에 대하여

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In Korean the core characteristics of syntactic atoms is a minimum unit which is drawn directly from lexicon and then is applied to syntactic rules. Although idiomatic expression of [바가지를 긁다] and complex predicate of [공부를 하다], [계약을 맺다] have the core characteristics of syntactic atoms, the existing opinion tells that these compositions, of which inner parts is separable, are syntactic atoms, because these violate the lexical island constraint. But this opinion has a mistake that it does not know a syntactic atom from a morphological word.
So-called ‘lexical island constraint’ has two problems in regard to establishing the concept of syntactic atom. One is that the scope of this constraint was not a syntactic atom but a morphological word. The other is that this constraint prevent the syntactic rules irrelevant to forming of new syntactic atom from being applied to the inner parts of syntactic atom. And I suggest the syntactic atom’s island constraint instead of ‘lexical island constraint’. This new constraint allow the syntactic rules to be applied to the inner parts of syntactic atom, if the syntactic rules is irrelevant to new syntactic atom formation.
I proposed four utilities of separable syntactic atom in explaining the syntactic phenomena. First, I argued that based on the concept of separable syntactic atom, the separate phenomenon of the inner parts of idiomatic expression, complex predicate, derivational word have the same quality. Second, I show with this concept that the separate form and the nonseparate form of idiomatic expression and complex predicate have the same syntactic category. Third, I suggested that the restructuring process for the separate form of syntactic atom is unnecessary in the concept of separable syntactic atom. Fourth, the concept of separable syntactic atom give us a guideline to determine the syntactic category of idiomatic expression or complex predicate which functions as the predicate.
