The scaphoid is the most commonly fractured carpal bone. In athletes, the carpal scaphoid fracture has been reported notably in contact sports such as football, boxing, soccer and basketball.
We have experienced a case of scapoid waist fracture in a weight lifter. Because of unstable scaphoid fracture, open reduction using the Herbert screw technique with an autogenous ulnar bone graft was recommended and performed. The result was satisfactory.
We report the case of scaphoid waist fracture in a weight lifter with the brief review of literature.
