한국 신무용 운동과 안제승의 역할 = Korean Modern Dance Movement andAhn, Jae-Seung's Contribution

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study is to inquire into the life of dance theorist Ahn Je-seung, and the meaning and implication in his Korean New Dance Theory. Understanding Ahn Je-seung's New Dance theory, we should focus on the following three aspects: 1) The theory concentrated interest on establishing the foundation of principle of Korean New Dance Movement. 2)Ahn Je-seung considered prototype and tradition as the subjects of understanding and improvement rather than the subjects of rejection and denial. 3) The theory indicated the lack of effort to settle Korean Traditional Dance, insufficiency of prototype and uncertainty of genealogy of Korean dance, and inappropriate direction of modernization. Ahn Je-seung's Korean New Dance Theory provides the following implications: 1) The theory can be applied to the current status in the aspect of discussion on prototype and modification, tradition and creation, the past, present, and future of Korean Dance. 2) From Ahn Je-seung's point of view, Korean New Dance Theory is not the following or copying of Japanese one but the fruits of critical investigation. 3) Ahn Je-seung's efforts and experiment are derived from his longing for Korean Dance's modernization which corresponds with the current trend and the taste of modern people.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 무용이론가 안제승의 삶과 그의 한국 신무용론이 내포하고 있는 의미와 시사를 고찰하고자 하였다. 안제승의 신무용론을 이해함에 있어 세 가지를 주목할 필요가 있다. 1) 한국 신무용 운동의 원리를 정초하는데 관심을 집중시켰다. 2) 안제승은 원형과 전통을 거부나 부정의 대상이 아니라 이해와 개량의 대상으로 보았다. 3) 한국 전통무용의 정립을 위한 노력의 부족, 한국 무용 원형의 허술함과 계보의 불투명, 그리고 현대화 방향의 부적절함에 대해 지적하였다. 안제승의 한국 신무용론은 다음과 같은 시사를 제공한다. 1) 한국 무용의 원형과 변형, 전통과 창조, 과거와 현재 그리고 미래에 대한 논의에 있어 안제승의 무용론은 우리의 현실에 밀착시킬 수 있는 선례다. 2) 안제승의 관점에서 한국 신무용론은 일본 신무용론의 답습, 모방이기보다는 비판적 검토의 성과이다. 3) 안제승의 고심과 실험의 바탕에는 현대의 조류와 현대인의 취향에 부합하는 한국 무용의 현대화를 향한 열망이 내포되어 있다.
