20세기 리코더의 부활과 현대 주법 연구 = The Revival of the Recorder in the 20th Century and the Study of Modern Techniques

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 리코더가 20세기에 다시 등장하게 된 배경과 리코더의 다양한 현대 주법들을 살펴보고, 그것이 갖는 의미를 고찰한다. 리코더는 19세기 말에 형성된 고음악(early music)에 대한 관심으로 재발견되었고, 아 놀드 돌메치가 복원하여 제작한 후 다양하게 연주되기 시작하였다. 에드가 헌트가 영국 학교 교육에 리코더를 활용하며 높은 교육적 효과를 거뒀고, 이는 곧 독일 및 세계 각지에서 리코더가 교육용 악기로 자리잡게 만들 었다. 1960년대에 아방가르드한 리코더 작품이 발표되며 리코더의 확장된 기술을 활용한 곡들이 작곡되었고, 마이클 베터의 저서와 루치아노 베리오의 작품 이후 다양한 리코더의 현대 주법들이 나왔다. 이에 본 논문에서 는 리코더의 부활 과정과 20세기 후반 다양한 작곡가들의 리코더 작품 및 전문 연주자들의 연주 자료 등을 통하여 리코더의 다양한 현대 주법에 관해 연구하였다. 1960년대와 70년대의 급진적인 아방가르드 작품들이 지금은 리코더의 필수 레퍼토리로 여겨지는 것을 보면 모든 예술이 그렇듯 리코더도 새로운 도전과 시도를 통 해 발전해 가고 있음을 확인할 수 있다. 연구 결과 리코더는 과거의 복원된 악기에 머물지 않고, 계속 변화하 며 오늘날에 이르렀음을 확인할 수 있다. 앞으로 또 변화할 리코더의 모습이 기대된다.

This study examines the background of the recorder’s reemergence in the 20th century, the various modern techniques of the recorder, and examines their significance. The recorder reemerges in the late 19th century due to interest in early music, and began to be played after Arnold Dolmetsch re- stored and produced it. Edgar Hunt used the recorder in British school education, which had a high educational effect, and this soon led to the recorder becoming established as an educational instru- ment in Germany and around the world. In the 1960s, avant-garde recorder works were published, and pieces utilizing the expanded techniques of the recorder emerged. Various modern techniques of the recorder emerged after Michael Vetter’s book and Luciano Berio’s works. In this paper, we stud- ied various modern techniques of the recorder through recorder works by various composers in the late 20th century and performance materials by professional performers. The fact that the radical avant-garde works of the 1960s and 1970s are now considered essential repertoire for the recorder shows that, like all art, the recorder is also developing through new challenges and attempts. The re- search results show that the recorder is not a restored instrument of the past, but continues to change and reach the present. We look forward to seeing how the recorder will change in the future.
