松泉筆譚 硏究

국문 초록 (Abstract)

'松泉筆譚'은 심재(1722～1784)에 의해 편찬된 조선 후기의 필기이다. 이 책은 심재가 일생동안 보고 들었던 이야기나 많은 독서 경험을 통해 얻은 지식들을 기록한 것이다. 그 유형을 살펴보면 견문 잡기의 형태를 띤 기록물에서부터 인물의 일화나 야담과 같은 서사의 형태를 띤 작품에 이르기까지 다양하게 나타난다. '송천필담'에는 저자의 폭넓은 독서 체험을 통한 다양한 정보가 수록되어 있고, 풍부한 식견을 바탕으로 한 비평적 글쓰기가 선보여 이전 시기의 필기와는 다른 면모를 보여 준다.
'송천필담'은 기록과 내용의 두 가지 측면에서 특징적인 면을 파악할 수 있다.
우선, 기록화 방식에서 보여지는 특징으로는 가장 두드러지는 것이 다양한 文獻의 受容이다. '송천필담'에는 총 200여 종이 넘는 다양한 문헌들이 활용되고 있다. 전대의 필기·패설류 작품집에서부터 조선 중·후기 문신·학자들의 시문집에 이르기까지 국내의 다양한 문헌들을 차용하고 있다. 아울러 기왕의 저서들에서 주목하지 않았던 '玉照新志'나 '淸署筆談'과 같은 중국의 筆記類 저서와 淸言小品서를 다양하게 활용하고 있다. 또한 문헌 수용을 통한 작품의 구현뿐만 아니라 구연의 기록화 과정에서도 見聞 지식을 문학적으로 재구성한 모습을 확인할 수 있다. 아울러 단순히 기록하는 차원에 머물러 객관적인 입장만을 유지하는 것이 아니라 다양한 방식의 評을 통해 편자의 견해를 작품에 반영하고 있다. 이러한 기록에서 더러는 이를 보조해 줄 수 있는 문헌을 인용하여 考證적 태도를 견지한 비평적 글쓰기의 면모를 보여 주기도 한다.
다음으로, 내용상 특징을 살펴보면 조선 후기의 주된 사상적 흐름뿐만 아니라 문물과 학예에 대한 박학한 지식을 보여주고 있어 심재의 文藝 意識을 확인할 수 있다. 독서에 대한 특별한 애정이 있었던 심재는 문헌의 편집 내력이나 출판 동향에 대해서도 소상하게 파악하고 있고 그의 학예적 관심은 서체와 화법에까지 미쳐 書畵 批評에 탁월한 식견을 보여 주고 있다. 또한 문물과 제도에 대해서도 박학한 지식과 개방적 태도를 견지하고 있어 담배와 안경과 같은 문물에 대한 소개뿐만 아니라 신분 제도에 대한 관용적 태도를 보여 준다. 물론 사상적 측면에서는 이단에 대해서 변별적으로 수용하는 가운데 도학 사상의 주된 흐름을 받아들이는 모습을 보이고 있다.
이상의 논의를 통해 조선 후기 필기 문학의 흐름속에서 '송천필담'이 갖는 위상을 규명해 볼 수 있다. '송천필담'은 기록화 과정에서 다양한 자료를 제시하여 고증적 태도를 바탕으로 한 비평적 글쓰기를 보여 주고 있고 내용면에서도 학예와 문물을 아우르는 폭넓은 소재의 글을 담고 있다. 이는 이전 시기의 단순한 견문, 잡기의 필기 문학이 아니라 18, 19세기 箚記체 필기나 백과전서식 저서의 前史를 보여 주는 것으로 볼 수 있을 것이다. 물론 체계를 갖추고 계통을 정리하지 못한 점이나 학술적 성격이 부족한 점등의 한계로 인해 조선 후기에 뚜렷하게 나타나는 차기체 필기로 거론하기에는 미흡한 점이 많다. 그럼에도 불구하고 심재의 '송천필담'은 조선 후기 필기 문학의 발전도상에서 과도기적 성격을 지닌 중요한 작품집으로 평가할 수 있을 것으로 여겨진다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

'Songchunpildam' is pilgi literature in the late choseon dynasty compiled by Shim jae. This book is a kind of literary work Shim jae wrote by seeing, hearing, and reading many materials and stories in his lifetime. If examined carefully, it has a lot of stories from the documentary featuring personal experiences to epics containing anecdotes and historical stories. In 'Songchunpildam', there is much information contained through his reading, on top of which it has criticism that shows different point of view with broad understanding compared with early one.
We can see many kinds of characteristics both through record and through contents in 'Songchunpildam'. First of all, the most remarkable thing in the chracteristics shown with the recording is that it accepted a variety of contents of other books. Over 200 books were quoted in this book, which adopted from folktales and essay in former ages to poetry written by many scholars in late choseon dynasty, and even used chinese literary works which didn't draw the attention. Moreover we can make sure that this book was made up by accepting other literary works and restructured literally many experiences in the recording process. And not only with holding up the objective standpoint but also with criticizing in many ways does this book reveal the critical writing style that reflects the writer's point of view, in the course of which it uses many supplementing literary works.
Next, in the charateristics of contents, this book shows both the current of major thoughts in the late choseon dynasty and wide knowledge on the culture and arts and sciences, which makes us confirm his high-quality thoughts. With his love of reading, Shim jae grasped fully publication trend and editing history about the articles that he quoted and his concern with arts and sciences makes him excel in the criticism of paintings. In addition, since he holds up an openness and knowledge about the culture and system, he not only introduced stuff like tobacco and glassess but revealed generous attitude about a status system. In the aspect of thought, with accepting heresy partially, he accepted the major stream of moral philosophy.
With the above argument, we can understand the position that 'Songchunpildam' has in the stream of pilgi literature in choseon dynasty. 'Songchunpildam' shows critical writing using various materials in the course of the recording on the basis of historical point of view. That means it isn't only simple pilgi literature but shows encyclopedic side or Chagiche essay in the18th century. Though it has a limit in establishing, arranging a system and manifesting academic characteristics, it can be regarded as important literary work having transitional characteristics in the development of pilgi literature.
