The axial dispersion coefficients in a bubble column(D = 4.5cm, L/D = 15) were determined graphically from the area above the experimental mixing curves, which was simpler than conventional method of curve fitting. The axial dispersion coefficient was expressed as a function of superficial gas velocity by D_2=28.106 U^0.310_G in the range of U_G=0-4cm/sec. This result was corresponded with the values calculated from the isotropic turbulence model proposed by Baird et al. From the data analysis, the superficial gas velocity ranging from 1.5 to 3cm/sec might be optimum in the process where the degradation of catalytic system is productivity -controlling like biological conversion processes.
