초등학교 국악 특기적성수업 실태에 관한 연구 : 경기도 용인시 수지구내 초등학교를 중심으로 = (A)study on the current state of talent aptitude education of Korea traditional music in elementary schools : focusing on the elementary school of Suji in Yongin city

7th Education, the government has been carrying out talent·aptitude education as a part of educational activities of respecting learnere's character and devloping and promoting their potential abilities. The talent·aptitude education provides various after-school education programs for students who are willing to participate in, and developing students' talents.
Talent·aptitude education of Korean traditional music was strengthened in the 7th Education Program as a part of the inheritance of national traditional culture, and to propose a plan to enhance the efficiency of education.
For this purpose, qustionaires were distibuted to 28 elemntary schools in Yong-In. Problems and current conditions of talent·aptitude education in elementary schools are summarized as follows.
First, in terms of educational environment, most schools do not have rooms exclusive for Korean traditional music.
In many cases, teachers do not use the classes given in the fields without their interest in and knowledge of them despite good facilities of the schools. If they were not specially interested in Korean classical music, most of teachers would have neither a chance of meeting the music nor the knowledge of Korean classical music education. Thus, they feel the necessity for being trained for their defects in the subject of the music. There are several problems to be solved to settle the talent·aptitude education of Korea traditional music and satisfy all of teachers, students and parents, but the most urgent task is to make a plan for preparing environment and providing program for Korea traditional music and change negative recognition in Korea traditional music.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

7차 교육과정 개정에서는 학습자의 개성을 존중하고 다양한 잠재력을 계발시키는 교육활동으로 특기 적성 교육이 활성화 되고 있으며 특히 교과서에 국악 비중이 커지면서 국악 교육을 통한 다양한 활동을 통해 자신의 흥미와 적성 및 다양한 잠재력을 발견하는 것에 관심이 높아지고 있다.
본 논문에서는 제 7차 교육과정 음악과에서 더욱 비중이 높아진 국악특기·적성교육이 교육현장에서 이뤄지는 실태와 문제점을 진단하고 보다 효율적인 운영 방안과 개선 방안을 모색하고자 용인시 수지구 초등학교 28개의 특기·적성 담당을 맡고 있는 28명의 교사를 대상으로 그 실태를 조사, 분석하였다.
수지구 초등학교 특기·적성교육 활동을 운영하는데 있어서 나타나는 문제점과 실태는 다음과 같이 나타났다.
첫째, 수지구 지역의 현직 초등학교 특기·적성담당 교사들의 교직 경력은 20년 이상이 71%로 가장 높았으며 교사들의 국악 관련 연수 프로그램 참여도에 관한 조사결과 1회 참여해봤다는 답변이 93% 로 가장 높았다. 그러나 교사들의 국악 관련 참여가 현저히 낮은 것으로 비해 국악 특기·적성의 필요성에 대한 조사 결과에서는 71%가 중요하다고 인식함으로써 국악에 대한 중요성은 느끼나, 교사들의 국악에 대한 적극적인 참여가 떨어지는 것으로 나타났다.
둘째, 과거에 국악 특기·적성 수업을 시행했다가 지금은 실행하고 있지 않는 초등학교들의 가장 큰 이유로는 ‘학부모의 반응이 좋지 않기 때문이다’에 71%로 가장 높게 나타났으며 기타 답변이 6%로 주변의 소음으로 인한 항의로 중단된 사례가 있다.
셋째, 국악 특기·적성 수업 시 실시되고 있는 국악 장르는 단소 수업이 50%로 가장 높게 나타났으며, 그 밖에 사물놀이와 가야금이 각각 20%로 나타났고, 10%가 민요 수업을 하는 것으로 나타났다.
교육환경 면에서는 수지구가 인구밀집지역으로 아파트 단지가 많이 들어서서 방음 장치가 되어있는 국악 전용 특별실이 매우 필요하나 그런 시설이 부족하여 수업에 어려움이 있다. 또한, 학부모의 관심도와 국악에 대한 인식이 낮아 국악 관련 특기·적성수업이 활성화 되지 못하고 있는 실정이다.
국악 특기·적성 교육 활동이 학교 현장에 정착되어 교사와 학생, 학부모 모두를 만족시키기 위해서는 여러 가지 문제점을 개선해야 하겠으나 가장 대표적으로 국악 수업을 할 수 있는 교육 환경 마련과 학생들 수준에 맞는 국악 교육 프로그램 확대와 국악에 대한 부정적인 인식전환이 시급한 것으로 보인다.
