Details of their reaction kinetics remain unresolved. Among others, the soot oxidation rate over catalyst is particularly important in the evaluation of the performance of the catalysts and the efficient control of CPF regeneration. The activation energy of the oxidation reaction with the catalyst is reduced in the presence of NO+O₂ also, the maximum soot oxidation temperature is decreased by about 120℃. The main reason that causes the increase of soot oxidation activity is the NO₂ from NO which is oxidized by platinum. NO₂ oxidizes soot with much lower activation energy than O₂ and the NO to NO₂ conversion takes place many times (recycling) while NO molecule passes through platinum
