      연구목적: 본 연구의 목적은 엘살바도르의 자치구의 폭력수준 (낮음, 보통, 높음)에 따라 초등학교와 중학교의 중퇴 요인이 상이한지를 파악한 후, 폭력수준 및 학교 수준(초등학교, 중학교)...

      연구목적: 본 연구의 목적은 엘살바도르의 자치구의 폭력수준 (낮음, 보통, 높음)에 따라 초등학교와 중학교의 중퇴 요인이 상이한지를 파악한 후, 폭력수준 및 학교 수준(초등학교, 중학교)에 따라 어떠한 요인들이 중퇴에 영향을 미치는 지를 알아내는 것이다. 연구의 중요성: 본 연구는 폭력이 심각한 사회 문제로 대두되고 있는 엘살바도르의 학생들의 중퇴 방지 정책을 마련을 위한 기초 연구이다. 연구방법론: 본 연구를 위해 저자는 (1) 결측치 대체를 이용해 자료를 전처리하고, (2) 이를 바탕으로 평균-분산 결합 회귀분석 및 로지스틱 회귀분석을 사용하여 자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과: 중퇴 요인별 중요도는 자치구의 폭력수준과 학교 수준에 따라 상이했다. 초등학생의 중퇴 요인은 빈곤, 성별, 그리고 유급이었으며, 중학생의 중퇴 요인은 결혼, 농업 종사, 학용품 제공, 그리고 유급이었다. 결론 및 시사점: 본 연구는 분석 결과를 바탕으로 ‘조건부 현금 지급 (con-ditional cash transfer)’ 등 자치구의 폭력수준에 따라 적합한 초등학생 및 중학생 유지 전략 수립를 제언한다.
