The purpose of the study is to observe the tissue response the Hydroxylapatite (Calcitec) and Hydroxylapatite
with dental plaster (M G , Japan) of the augmentation on the maxillary alveolar bone of rabbits.
Six rabbits, weighting about 2.0kg, were used as experimental animals and divided into H A implantation
group (3 rabbits) and H A with dental plaster implantation group (3 rabbits).
Each implant was augmented on the left and right maxillary alveolar bone of rabbits.
Rabbits were sacrificed at the 1st, 2nd, 4th week after operation and then the specimens were evaluated
histologically by light microscope.
The results were as follows
1. After 1 week, there was the acute inflammatory reaction, but it was not seen after 2 weeks.
2. The dental plaster was seldom seen after 2 weeks.
3. H A was beginning to be surrounded by the fibrous connective tissue after 1 week, and as time
elapsed, the fibrous connective tissue was more matured
4. N ew bone formation was not seen in this experiment.
H A was surrouned by only fibrous connective tissue.
5. There was no difference between H A and H A with dental plaster implantation group.
