The object of this paper is to examine the effect of biomass on the reburning method for nitrogen oxide(NOx) reduction. The experimental setup consists of the experimental furnace with a light-oil burner and particle feeder for biomass reburning. The effect of rice husk on the reburning performance is studied experimentally. The experimental ranges of the key parameters are 2~4% of O₂ in the exhaust gas and 200~400 ㎛ of rice husk particles size. Since the NOx reduction rate for all the cases with reburning fuel are higher than 20%, rice husk particles give the positive effect on NOx reduction. In this experiment, NOx reduction rate with 200 ㎛ rice husk particles is found to be 42% lower than the case that isn’t used reburing fuel. It is recommended that 200 ㎛ rice husk particles on the 25% reburn fuel fraction can be the best candidate for NOx reduction performance in the present conditions.
