성폭력 담화의 명명 전략 연구 - 안희정 사건의 언론 보도와 온라인 댓글을 중심으로 - = Nomination Strategies in Sexual Violence Discourse: Analysis of Media Coverage and Online Comments on the Ahn Hee-jung Case

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 성폭력 담화에서 사용되는 명명 전략을 분석하여, 가해자와 피해자, 그리고 성폭력 행위 자체가 언어적으로 어떻게 표상되는지를 고찰한다. 안희정 성폭력 사건에 대한 언론 보도와 온라인 댓글을 대상으로 질적 분석을 수행한 결과, 사회적 행위자들의 명명 방식에 있어 뚜렷한 비대칭성이 발견되었다. 가해자는 주로 제도화와 개인화 전략을 통해 지칭되는 반면, 피해자는 상대화, 피해자화, 젠더화 등 보다 광범위한 명명 전략의 대상이 되었다. 또한 성폭력 행위 자체에 대한 개념화에 있어서도 권력 관계를 강조하며 범죄로 규정하는 방식과, 폭력성을 최소화하고 합의된 불륜으로 특징짓는 방식이 경쟁하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 명명 전략으로 드러나는 언어적 표상의 패턴은 기존의 권력 구조와 제도적 위계를 반영하고 잠재적으로 강화할 수 있으며, 성폭력에 대한 명명 전략이 중립적인 언어적 선택이 아닌 보다 넓은 사회적 권력 관계와 제도적 구조의 반영임을 시사한다. 이는 성폭력에 대한 대중의 인식과 사회적 대응에도 영향을 미칠 수 있다는 중요한 함의를 지닌다.

This study examines the nomination strategies used in sexual violence discourse, focusing on how perpetrators, victims, and acts of sexual violence are linguistically represented. Through qualitative analysis of media coverage and online comments related to the Ahn Hee-jung sexual assault case, this research reveals significant asymmetries in how different social actors are named and referenced. While perpetrators are predominantly referred to through institutionalization (particularly professionalization) and individualization strategies, victims are subject to a broader range of nomination strategies including relativization, victimization, and gendering. The study also identifies competing conceptualizations of sexual violence itself, with some discourse framing it as a crime emphasizing power relations, while others minimize its violent nature by characterizing it as consensual infidelity. These patterns of linguistic representation reflect and potentially reinforce existing power structures and institutional hierarchies. The findings suggest that nomination strategies in sexual violence cases are not neutral linguistic choices but rather reflect broader social power relations and institutional structures, which may influence public perception and societal responses to sexual violence.
