건축과 가구의 관계 재설정을 통한 주거공간 설계 : 전시개념을 도입한 여의도 오피스빌딩 리노베이션 = Housing Design as the Re-establishment of Relationship between Architecture and Furniture : The Renovation of an Office Building in Yeouido

국문 초록 (Abstract)

현대 사회의 도시구조 속의 업무시설들은 공간을 더이상 위치나 물리적 크기로 확정짓지 않는다. 이제 사무실은 꼭 여기가 아니어도 되고 어느 곳이나 사무실이 될 수 있다. 도심의 중심을 지키고 있던 사무실은 비균질적으로 흩어지고 사무실이 점유하고 있던 면적은 점차 줄어든다. 본 논문에서는 도심속 빼곡히 들어서 있던 업무시설이 조금씩 빠져 나가 다른 프로그램이 삽입되는 상황을 가정하고 대지를 여의도의 한 오피스 빌딩으로 선정했다. 본 논문의 목적은 이 빌딩의 극도로 좁은 인동간격을 오히려 역으로 이용하여 주거와 놀이터를 삽입하는 것이다. 그 방법은 건축과 가구의 관계 재설정을 통해 공간을 다시 규정하는 것이다.
본 논문에서 의도하는 가구는 공간속에 설치되거나 놓여지는 오브제로서의 가구가 아닌 입면을 형성하는 스크린으로서의 가구 혹은 행위, 동선, 시선을 수납하는 가구를 의미한다. 건물 외피를 둘러싼 반투명체의 수납장은 행위와 겹쳐지면서 시선의 중첩을 이루게 되고 입면을 끊임없이 변화시키면서 건물의 바깥으로 전시된다. 방은 확장된 의미의 가구로서 행위를 수납한다. 행위를 수납한다는 것은 어떤 방으로도 정의되어 있지 않음을 뜻한다. 겹쳐진 문으로 둘러싸인 방은 투명도가 조절되면서 다양한 행위를 수납한다. 계단과 놀이터는 각각 동선과 놀이를 수납하는 가구로 읽혀져 각 세대에 혹은 외부에 전시된다. 전시 개념을 통해서 얻을 수 있는 의미는 다음과 같다.
우선 인간의 상반된 두가지 욕망을 동시에 충족시킬 수 있었다. 주거는 기본적으로 다른 프로그램과 달리 가리려고 한다. 그러나 인간은 자신을 감추고자 하는 동시에 자신을 드러내고자 하는 욕망을 동시에 갖는다. 여지껏 주거는 자신을 에워싸는 사적인 영역을 만드는 데 집중되어 있었다. 드러낸다는 것이 프라이버시와는 반대되는 개념이기 때문이다. 그러나 본 설계에서는 프라이버시를 추구함에 있어 전시라는 방법을 택함으로서 주거를 양면적인 시각으로 바라볼 수 있었다.
또한 도시와 주거 혹은 거주하는 사람들간의 관계를 생성시켰다. 거주의 개념은 본래 사람이 주체가 되어 집속에 머무는 것이다. 그러나 여기에 또 하나의 주체를 만들었다. 주위 건물들에 있는 사람들과 건물안에 거주하는 사람들은 관찰자로서 환원되어 서로 보여주고 보는 관계가 된다.
결론적으로 건축과 가구의 관계를 재설정한 결과는 전시개념으로 요약된다. 그러한 전시 개념을 도입함으로서 극도로 좁은 인동간격을 극복하면서 성공적으로 주거 공간을 삽입할 수 있었다. 뿐만 아니라 이 건물은 낮과 밤, 건물의 안과 밖을 통해 새로운 도시 경관 요소로 작용될 수 있다. 그것은 사람들을 간접적으로 만나게 하는 것이며 고립된 도시의 삶으로부터 벗어날 수 있는 계기가 된다.
현대 건축의 흐름은 본질을 해체해 나가는 과정으로 요약된다. 그러나 다른 분야와 달리 건축과 가구는 그 경계가 뚜렷하며 그 관계에 대해서도 연구가 미흡한 실정이다. 그만큼 잠재적인 분야라고 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 가구를 공간 개념으로 확장시키면서 일반적인 가구는 연구의 범위에서 제외시켰다. 앞으로 건축과 오브제로서의 가구에 대한 관계를 재설정해 보는 연구가 필요하다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In modern society, the business facilities at urban cities do not decide a space by locations and sizes. Now, people are allowed to have an office at any place. The offices at downtown have been dispersed non-homogeneously and have reduced their areas gradually. The object was an office building at Yoido, Seoul on the assumption that so many business facilities at downtown would move to outskirts little by little and another program may be introduced. The paper aims to put houses and playground by making use of extremely narrowness between buildings. The relations between building and furniture were established again to define a space.
In this paper, the furniture is not an objet at a space but either the one which supplies an elevation making screen or the one which accommodates the act , the circulation and the eyes , etc. The semitransparent storage furniture surrounding a building's exterior is overlapped with an act to produce an overlapped eyes and display it outside buildings while making a change of elevation continuously. Rooms accommodate acts as a furniture having wide sense. The accommodation of an act means no definition of a room. The room surrounded by overlapped doors accommodates a variety of acts after controlling transparency. Both stairs and playground are read to be a furniture accommodating the circulation and the play respectively and display it either in each household or in the exterior. The concept of display has following meanings:
At first, two contrary desire can be satisfied at the same time. Basically, a dwelling house has different program. However, men have both desire at the same time, that is, hiding himself and disclosing himself. Until now, dwelling house has been concentrated on the production of private areas surrounding him. This is because the disclosure has an opposite concept to the privacy. In this paper, however, the display in pursuit of privacy regards the dwelling house from both sided points of view.
In addition, the relations between urban city and dwelling house or between residents were established. However, another subject was produced. Both the ones at neighboring buildings and the ones residing in a building can have relations to watch each other after returning to an observer.
In conclusion, the result that has reestablished the relations between the architecture and the furniture can be summarized in the concept of display. After introducing the concept of display, the study could overcome extremely narrowness between buildings and put a dwelling space successfully. In addition, the buildings can function as new urban scene day and night or in and out of buildings. By taking the opportunities, citizens can meet others indirectly and be free from isolated life at urban cities.
Modern architecture's flow is said to disassemble an essence. Being different from other fields, both the architecture and the furniture have clear and distinct boundary: But, the relations between both have not been studied satisfactorily. In other words, both belong to a potential field. The paper expanded the furniture to the concept of space and excluded common type of the furniture. In the future, the relation between the architecture and the furniture being an objet need to be reestablished. As a result, new furniture that is free from design history and establishes relations with the architecture can be produced.
