계획된 우연 이론에 기반한 성격 5요인과 우연 기술의 관계 = The Big Five Personality Traits and Planned Happenstance Skills:A Theoretical Exploration

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the big five personality traits (openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and emotional stability) and five sub-scales of planned happenstance skills among undergraduate students in South Korea. Multivariate multiple regression analysis was used to examine the effects of the five personality traits on five sub-scales of planned happenstance skills. The results showed that openness to experience and extraversion positively related with all five sub-scales of planned happenstance skills and positively affected planned happenstance skills while conscientiousness and emotional stability not only positively related with but predicted a few sub-scales of planned happenstance skills. The results of the current study could be utilized in counseling services and career programs to figure out which sub-scales of planned happenstance skills can be developed based on the client’s personality traits.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 5요인 성격특성과 계획된 우연 기술의 관계를 살펴봄으로써 성격적 특성이 계획된 우연 기술을 어떻게 예측하는지 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 남녀 대학생 376명을 대상으로 5요인 성격특성과 계획된 우연 기술을 측정한 후 다변인 다중 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 5요인 성격특성의 하위요인들의 다변인 다중회귀분석결과, 친화성을 제외한 외향성, 성실성, 개방성, 정서적 안정성이 모두 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 구체적으로 계획된 우연의 기술 중 호기심에 대하여 외향성, 개방성이 정적으로 유의미하게 예측하였으며, 성실성과 정서적 안정성은 부적으로 유의미하게 예측하였다. 인내심에 대하여는 친화성을 제외한 4요인이 모두 정적으로 유의미하게 예측하였으며, 위험감수의 경우에는 친화성과 성실성을 제외한 3요인이 정적으로 유의미하게 예측하였다. 낙관성의 경우 외향성, 성실성, 개방성이 부적으로 유의미하게 예측하였으며, 유연성의 경우 성실성은 부적으로, 외향성과 개방성은 정적으로 유의미하게 예측하는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 본 연구 결과를 토대로 진로상담 장면에서 5요인 성격 특성에 기반한 계획된 우연기술의 발달과 함의 및 제한점에 대해 논의하였다.
